TableTop Exercise: Bioterrorist Attack on Food

Description:

The Bioterrorism Training and Emergency Preparedness Curriculum was developed to educate students and the public on information regarding bioterrorism preparedness and emergency response.

This tabletop learning activity is an opportunity for public health personnel and their local emergency response counterparts to gain knowledge and skills in preparing for and responding to a large-scale communicable disease or bioterrorist event. Participants will address a hypothetical bioterrorist incident in the form of an infectious disease outbreak. The exercise will enable participants to identify the communication, resources, data, coordination, and organizational elements associated with an emergency response. The exercise is not Incident Command System (ICS)-based because it emphasizes policy issues rather than operational procedures; however, as participants work through the scenario they will likely identify missing knowledge or understanding relevant to their specific ICS.
