Avian Influenza Update

Description: An update on avian and pandemic influenza including virology, measures in evaluating/managing persons infected; isolation precautions, and where to find up-to-date guidance.  The course objectives for Avian Influenza are as follows: to describe the virological events that could lead to an influenza pandemic, describe the relationship between avian and pandemic influenza, follow appropriate measures in evaluating and managing persons possibly infected with novel influenza strains, characterize which isolation precautions are appropriate for persons hospitalized with novel influenza strains, and find up-to-date guidance on the appropriate websites, should a novel influenza strain enter the U.S.
